The suspect was described as an African American male in his mid-to-late 20’s, with a medium build, approximately 5’ 10” in height. After collecting the purse, the suspect retrieved the keys from on top of the victim’s vehicle and fled with that vehicle northbound on North Hills Avenue. The suspect then ordered a second victim to surrender her purse. The victim said that the suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet. The victim told officers that he had been approached from behind while putting gasoline in his vehicle and told by the suspect to place his car keys on top of the vehicle. The arrest resulted in the recovery of the firearm used in the robbery and the victim’s money. Additional officers responded to the area and were able to locate and arrest both suspects who were attempting to flee the area on foot. As a result, Highland Elementary as well as several other schools in close proximity were placed on lockout status. The vehicle was subsequently located by officers, unoccupied, in a residential area close to Highland Elementary School. An officer responding to the robbery observed the suspect vehicle leaving the area and attempted to stop it, but the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. After taking the victim’s money the suspect entered the passenger side of a waiting vehicle and fled the area. The victim had just withdrawn money from an ATM when a suspect, armed with a handgun, approached and demanded the money. The victim received minor injuries as a result of the assault. The suspects were chased on foot and apprehended on the second level in the mall. The victim began to call police and was assaulted again by the other two suspects. One of the suspects attempted to take control of the vehicle. The victim had just parked her car when she was confronted by three suspects who dragged her out of her vehicle and threw her onto the ground.
